„Many have questioned the historicity of the fall, but it is important for us to maintain that it actually happened. (…) There are two possibilities: either sin is a component of human nature (as some have said, „Adam is everyman“) or it began after God had already established human nature, in a historical event. The first possibility leaves us without hope. For we can never escape our nature, and if sin is part of that nature, we can never escape sin or its consequences. But if sin came into the world through a historical event, it is possible for other events to reverse the first.„
